Matters relating to Marriage

Marriage is a sacred institution in Islam. It is a life-long binding not only between two individuals but also between two families. In the words of The Holy Quraan, the husband and wife are each other’s dress; thus they are supposed to provide each other safety, protection, comfort, privacy, coverage for shortcomings, beautification, pride and identity. It is encouraged to facilitate the marriage of all single men and women in an Islamic society, including the divorcees and widows, to provide an environment of harmony and social protection and discourage social misconduct. A man is supposed to be responsible for financial needs of his wife and children and for their moral and spiritual development. Kindness and generosity is expected out of him at all times, even when there is dispute between the spouses. Women are expected to be the protectors of the household and ensure proper upbringing of the children. It is greatly discouraged to marry for temporary self-satisfaction without intention to fulfil all responsibilities and obligations related to this sacred relationship.
